Court Costs and Surcharges
In most states, when you file a civil lawsuit, you are charged a fee for filing the case. Similarly, when you resolve a speeding ticket (or any other criminal infraction), you are charged court costs. What most people do not know is that these filing fees and court costs go to a host of recipients, many of which are not associated with the state’s court system. In those situations, a portion of the fees you pay may be illegal and/or unconstitutional.
If you have recently paid to file a civil court action or paid court costs associated with a criminal infraction, Edgar Law Firm would like to hear from you and conduct a further investigation (free of charge).
