Disclosure of Service Fees and Surcharges
Recently passed laws in many states, including California and New York, require the clear disclosure of service fees and surcharges when purchasing items and services online. For example, how many times have you been quoted a hotel room (food delivery, movie tickets, etc.) for a certain amount, only to see that amount increase significantly when you go to checkout/pay online or on a mobile app? Under these new laws, consumers are protected from these unscrupulous sales tactics. It does not matter if the added fees or surcharges are legal. The NONDISCLOSURE of them is ILLEGAL.
If you have experienced nondisclosure of service fees or surcharges when purchasing online or on a mobile app, Edgar Law Firm would like to hear about your experience.
