Confidential $11,000,000 Class Settlement For Missed Meal and Rest Breaks

In August 2018, Edgar Law Firm secured an $11,000,000 settlement on behalf of a class of California employees of a nationwide service-based chain. The case arose from the employees missing their meal and rest breaks on a regular basis. While the defendant had policies and/or procedures in place to address the employees’ meal and rest breaks, it was discovered that the defendant rarely, if ever, followed its own procedures regarding the breaks. The settlement is thought to be one of the largest California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) settlements to date.
